Mountains!

There's not a day that goes by in which I don't think, "Wow, those mountains are incredible."

Here's the view down the street on campus towards the Fine Arts Building, where I work:

And here's the view I see every day coming home from work.  That valley down below?  That's where my bike ride in starts--we live a block from the giant temple.  Let's just say, I don't always make it the whole way on the bike...

And here are a few shots from a quick canyon trip we took yesterday night.  This is all within about 10 minutes of our house.

About halfway up is a triple arch called the "Wind Caves."

A few pictures from a drive up Logan Canyon

Happy family at home

We finally got to drive up the canyon today! It was just incredible. The entire drive was beautiful, but the highlights were stops at Tony Grove Lake and then Bear Lake, which is half in Idaho.

Starting our little hike at Tony Grove

Bear Lake overlook--gorgeous!

Garden City, on Bear Lake, is known for its delicious raspberry shakes...

And, of course, its raspberries!

New state, new house, new beginning!

We're in Utah!

Starting this month, Sara and I will be teaching at Utah State University in Logan, UT.  We're a long way physically, mentally, and culturally from Massachusetts, and that distance was highlighted by a wonderful family trip to Spain right before we moved.  The move itself has been trying, but there are lots of things also to be excited about.

Speaking of which, we own a house for the first time in our lives!

Our new house!

Muscles in the dining room

Messy kitchen... and yes, that is chalk on the wall
And here's how our stuff got here, blessedly driven by relatives:

Forget that rain!  Ever since getting here, Utah's been sunny... intensely sunny.

You might be wondering, how Mormon is Logan?  This Mormon:

So... new lives.  We're sad for some of the things we're leaving behind, mainly parents, but also excited for this new chapter in our lives.  And, now, my blog!
