So far today he's been alternating between sleeping and being cute on the one hand:
and attacking anything that moves on the other:
He is really beautiful--it's hard to see in these pictures, but the brown hairs mixed with the black on his back are relatively prominent. He's also a nice complement to Nadia--cuddly, personal, and fearless (he didn't need any adjustment time at all!).
Unfortunately, she doesn't agree. She's been in a bad mood ever since he came (about 24 hours ago), and whenever she sees him can't seem to stop growling and hissing. We're desperately hoping that she'll accept him, but worried that she might not. Nadia's a very special cat, especially to Sara, and if this turns her into "the grumpy older cat that's not much fun to be around," we'll feel very bad.

Tim,
Thanks for the glimpse of your new family member. He looks precious. Surely his charm is sufficient to win Nadia over with time. Good luck with all the family dynamics.
Love,
Dad
He looks so playful! Can't wait to meet him!
And, excited to hear what you'll call him. May I suggest Howard Jones The Fourth. OK, maybe not.
Tim, He IS a cutie. I can see why Nadia is anxious. Alec was the same way when we decided to get Maple, but what can you do? Try to love them both and let them work it out. It might actually get better when you move to the house.
He does look like a lovely blend of frisky, friendly and cuddly. Howard Jones? Hmm...there are quite a few websites out there to get ideas for cat names! A quick search got me this: http://www.funcatnames.com This also was neat:

My friend had an older fluffier loving cat that began to growl for the first time when a spunky kitten addition came along--after 2 weeks of fighting, hissing, and swatting they warmed up to each other and ended up even snuggling on occasion. So there's certainly still hope for a friendship!
He is the sweetest, cutest thing ever...HOGWASH! Let's compare headshots or measure length of fur or even sprawl of belly. Then we'll know who rules!
