White peaks

First, the combined-birthday birthday cake. Actually, turns out the cake itself was pretty boring, so the frosting and strawberries were eaten together, then the cake tossed. (Less calories, right?)

We've been (finally!) getting lots and lots of snow. Well, down in the valley, it's mostly rain, so lawns are not very white, but the mountains are pretty, at least up top. This is the view from our driveway.

We finally went skiing yesterday! We went to Beaver Mountain, just under 40 minutes away. Unfortunately, it was not great conditions, but that may not have made much difference to people at our skill level. Here's the first wipeout, right in the middle of the picture. We won't say who it is.

By the time we left, the snow was falling so fast you really couldn't see the mountains.

But coming home, it cleared up, and the canyon was really beautiful. This is just a quick shot out a moving car window--it was much more beautiful in person.

And as we got back into town, the Wellsvilles off in the distance were beautiful, with a tiny patch of light blue sky right above them. (This is Utah, so every cloudy sky needs at least a small patch of blue.) If you look closely, you can see the Fine Arts Center, where I work, on the right.
